As you allude to in the Glee piece, I think the 2010s were a period when identity shifted towards all encompassing "queer". While good in some ways, I think this phenomenon also served to erase bisexuals and bisexual struggles as a distinct identity.
Yeah I think that shift started in the 2000s and gained prominence in the 2010s. I def had a big period where IDing as queer felt cooler/more acceptable than IDing as bi; but then it started to become clear to me that that was internalized biphobia!
