It's so interesting from one bi Jew to another, because "it can also have no explicitly bisexual characters and yet embody this spirit, this curiosity and questioning" is also something that makes art feel *Jewish* to me, even though I know you may be going with a different version of "questioning." But there's something about this not-really-sure-ness and leaning into it that feels relevant.
Yeah I think that there are commonalities between the Jewish and specifically white Jewish experience in the US and the bi experience; I think a think that would make art feel bi rather than Jewish to me is that the bi lens is specifically geared towards analysis of gender and sexuality.
Yes, there is bisexual art. When I think of bisexual art, I think art of an erotic nature, because otherwise how would I recognize it as distinctly bisexual? In cinema and TV, there is in my experience precious few examples of bisexuality—male bisexuality in particular—that doesn't portray male bisexuality as some sort of psychic injury that illuminates a character's struggle with sex. Some porn and literature expresses this nicely, but invites the eternal question: Is Porn Art? The "questioning" nature of bisexuality is rarely portrayed as a joyful exploration, but rather some deeply conflicted pathology. What's needed is more joy, less conflicted angst, please. IMHO, of course.
I think my sexuality is an artifact of my neurodiversity.
I think the Bi-codedness you are noticing in B99 and White Lotus is an artifact of both shows’ very Autistic analyses of culture, what makes a family, what is good/bad/acceptable/unacceptable, what is growth, etc., I.e. “What are the rules?!!!”
P.S. The manager in WL1 had *such* Tim Curry energy. ;)

Thank you for this! I would add to the Bi Canon: all of Shakespeare, and all of American ballet. ;)
